Congratulations to all the U 11 handballers who represented the school last wednesday. First up for Castlegar was Nora Christians in the girls singles competition, Nora was runner up and received SN Cholmcille`s first ever handball medal, well done Nora!
Tara and Laura took the court next in the girl`s doubles.Tara and Laura also won silver medals and competed brilliantly with some great serves and difficult returns.
The performance of the tournament and the best match of the day was the boys U 11 doubles. This was a classic match with some breathtaking rallies and competition. Dominic and Jordan were absolutely outstanding in this match but unfortunately our lads lost by the slimmest of margins, the match eventually finished 11-10 to Scoil Einde Salthill.
Robert Fox was the last competitor for Castlegar. Robert obliterated the semi-final competition without conceeding a point. Then on to the final Robert was playing against Annaghdown`s best player Danny. Robert got off to a flying start 5-0 , and went on to hold the lead and win 11-7 at the end. Robert won a gold medal and goes on to represent Castlegar in the county final next saturday night in Moycullen.
